Here, you will find the up and coming home fashion trends and experience the energy and excitement around interior design essentials. One interior design trend that stood out during our visit was texture, texture, and more texture everywhere.

Why Texture is Important in Interior Design

Texture in a room or design is the use of different materials that together show visual interest in a space. It adds layers, dimension, and warmth to a room and prevents the space from feeling one-dimensional. Texture in a room will draw your attention to your most impressive areas within the space. Here are some of the unexpected ways to use texture in your design.  

Lighting

One of the most important elements to design is the lighting throughout your home. You probably do not think about just how much lighting fixtures change the style and look of a space but great lighting creates depth. With all of the different types of materials used to make them, lighting can add an incredible amount of texture to a space. You can find textured lighting in many modern, coastal, transitional, bohemian, and even traditional designs out right now. There are so many amazing options in rugs, mostly because rugs create a lot of texture. The most exciting additions in rugs were high-end ultra-Persian rugs in addition to outdoor rugs. Here are some of our favorites that will take a space from good to unforgettable.

Window Treatments

Another unexpected source of texture is in window treatment.  Drapes have long been a source of texture, given the ability to choose any fabric, but there has been so much innovation in window shades.  Wooden, reed shades have been around for a long time and there are so many new options in this category. There are also other fabrication options for shades that can add so much interest to your walls.

Textiles

Lastly, the easiest way to add texture to your design is through textiles. Textiles offer the most options for texture. From furniture texture to pillows and throw blankets, these fabrics use contrasting colors, patterns, and materials that layer together and provide a cohesive look. The texture adds another dimension to your look.

When adding texture to your design, it is important to balance the amount of texture. There is no need to overdo the use of texture, it should be deliberate.
