The holidays are almost over. All of the tidings and gifts that we have gathered all need to find new homes as we put away our holiday décor. Organizing after the holidays can be one of two things for you: overwhelming because you have way more than you started with or very therapeutic. I like to think of it as therapeutic because putting away Christmas allows you to do a little pre-spring deep cleaning and also make a few updates to your home so it feels new and refreshed. In this blog, we break down a few easy steps for post-Christmas organization to get you in the mood for the new year!

Holiday ornaments and décor are items that you own but remain in storage most of the year. We accumulate so much of it because if you are like us, you buy more every year or like to change out your holiday colors and themes frequently. The holidays come and go so fast that the setup and tear down happen so quickly, that’s why proper storage containers are so important. They need to keep your precious pieces secured and stored right.

If It’s Broken, Fix It or Replace It

Believe it or not, the day after Christmas is one of the busiest days for home décor businesses. The after-Christmas sales on seasonal décor can help you deck out your home next year when you pick up some pieces at a discount. If you have some broken ornaments that you discover while taking down the tree, repair them now or replace them so you don’t have to do it next holiday.

Upgrade Your Storage

Take this time to upgrade your holiday storage. Make a count of how many new totes that you will need. After Christmas, retailers have great sales on bins and storage solutions but one of our favorite organizing retailers is the Container Store.
