Embarking on the journey of building a new home is an exhilarating yet intricate process, and interior designers play a pivotal role in turning new construction into a living reality. From collaborating on architectural plans to envisioning the perfect color palette, furnishings, and decor, designers ensure that every facet of a new construction aligns with the builder and architect’s vision. Their expertise transforms mere blueprints into a cohesive, personalized space, navigating the vast array of choices in materials, finishes, and styles. Interior designers bring an invaluable understanding of a home’s functional and aesthetic aspects, ensuring that the finished product resonates with buyers and homeowners. Here’s a little insight on building a modern house in Charlotte, NC, with Gracious Home Interiors’ current project: East 17th Street.
The process of building new construction involves several crucial steps and considerations. First and foremost, define the budget, number of rooms, layout, and any specific features or functionalities. Next, choosing the right location is paramount; evaluate factors such as proximity to amenities, school districts, and overall neighborhood vibe. Once a clear vision exists, the architect, builder, and interior designer collaborate ideas into feasible plans. From selecting finishes to optimizing spaces, these professionals play a crucial role in making a home a reality.
Charlotte, North Carolina, has experienced rapid growth over the past few years, and vibrant communities are emerging all over. The city’s allure lies in its diverse neighborhoods, one of which is Belmont. This neighborhood is the home of our latest new construction on 17th Street in Charlotte, NC. The house will be a 3-story modern beauty, and we are already on our way to building.
Modern architecture and designs come in all shapes and sizes. From sleek, minimalist structures to homes with bold geometric shapes, there’s a design to suit every taste. One of the key attributes of modern and contemporary designs is the simplicity of form and the openness of the floor plan. These designs’ spaciousness, fluidity, and flow allow natural light to play a vital role in the home’s overall feel.
Builders and designers look for new materials when building modern homes. Materials focused on sustainability, energy-efficient technologies, and eco-friendliness are often used during construction. Natural wood, steel, glass, and concrete offer clean lines and blend form and function seamlessly. Our 17th Street modern home’s design exudes warmth and luxury while using all these materials.
Located across from the Little Sugar Creek Greenway and nestled between historic Plaza Midwood and the arts district, NoDo, this future home is right in the city’s heart and close to Uptown Charlotte. This modern three-story, four-bedroom home includes over 3,000 square feet and will boast a pool and pool house in the backyard, making it an entertainer’s dream home. Take a look at the details and renders:
The exterior of this contemporary home harmoniously blends modern aesthetics and functional design. Anodized railings contribute to a contemporary aesthetic, and sleek, modern lighting fixtures ensure the house stands out, especially in the evening. The combination of exterior cement board, trim, fascia, and stucco in white creates a crisp and clean facade.
The front door, a steel exterior door with a 4-light design, adds a touch of industrial charm. The siding features a dynamic mix, including Nichiha’s vintage wood and traditional James Hardie siding. The use of James Hardie Architectural Square Channel siding on vertical applications adds architectural interest. These exterior features make a bold statement, blending functionality with contemporary design elements.
The entrance of this home is designed to make a lasting impression. An in-ground planter housing a live tree welcomes residents and guests with a touch of nature, creating a harmonious connection between the interior and the outdoors. Wood panels not only serve as a striking accent wall but also function to minimize sound throughout the three-story foyer. The vertical slats establish a contemporary aesthetic but also aid in breaking sound waves for a more serene atmosphere. These panels feature a special felt backing crafted from 60% recycled plastic, optimizing noise absorption while contributing to sustainable design practices.
The foyer’s centerpiece is a tiered chandelier with 26 multi-linear wands that elegantly cascade from a round pendant. The light play mimics a beautiful rain shower, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication to this modern home’s grand entrance.
The kitchen of this home is a showcase of modern design and functionality. The two-toned European-styled cabinetry, featuring Gloss White and Natural Oak finishes, adds depth and visual interest to the space. Flat panel cabinetry, known for its clean and demanding aesthetic, imparts a minimalistic and contemporary look to the kitchen. The sleek design enhances the overall modern feel and ensures easy cleaning, aligning with the practicality needed in a kitchen.
The under-mount sink seamlessly complements the cabinetry, offering a streamlined and integrated appearance. Long edge tab lip pulls serve as functional and natural design accents, emphasizing the modern style of the cabinets. Straight-lined and discreet, these pulls provide a clean edge that aligns perfectly with the kitchen’s sophisticated and uncluttered ambiance. The Delta Chrome finish adds a touch of elegance and ties together the contemporary elements.
The primary suite of this home is a true sanctuary thoughtfully designed to provide a tranquil and inviting retreat. The wood paneling that extends from behind the bed up onto the ceiling creates a design focal point, offering a warm and natural aesthetic. The interplay of natural wood against the white walls creates a striking contrast, enhancing the room’s overall visual appeal. The floor-to-ceiling windows amplify the serenity by allowing ample natural light to flood the space, creating a bright and open ambiance.
Moving into the primary bathroom, a seamless transition of design elements is evident. Using large-format marginal white porcelain tiles, brings a cohesive and luxurious feel to the bathroom space. The floating vanities, along with chrome plumbing and fixtures, add a modern touch, contributing to the primary suite’s overall contemporary and sophisticated design.
This home is full of surprises, and we cannot wait to see the result. Features like the eye-catching LED Linear Suspension Light over the dining table and the 60″ gas fireplace with a built-in wood bench hearth that wraps around the side. The pool house is the biggest bonus with this home, as it has a mini kitchen and full bathroom with teak flooring and a skylight in the shower.
